Dear Mr.Featherstone,
Thank you for your e-mail but I can only inform you that at this point
in time no decision has been made or the matter of the future of
Parkview been determined or even considered by Cabinet.
However, I can confirm that I expect the subject to be a matter for
determination in the near future as I understand that officers are
considering possible recommendations on the future of the home.
I can assure you that consultation will be undertaken with all
interested parties prior to any decision being made.
Regards,
Ken Lupton

Dear Peter,

Many thanks for your considered response to a very emotive subject. If I could clarify the position, as it currently stands, it may help your Association.

The Council's Forward Plan is a means by which Council Members, and others, can see the items that are to be considered by Cabinet in the coming months, thereby giving an opportunity to comment and participate in any debate.

The current Forward Plan contains the following item.

Review of Park View Care Home.

To consider the policy, demographic and service provision and financial factors impacting on the current and future provision for Park View Care Home. Consider the options and approve further work being undertaken to produce a detailed set of recommendations.

Method of Consultation - Meetings.

Principle Consultees - Staff and Unions

                                 Service Users and Carers

                                 Councillors

As Leader of the Council I can confirm that  I have not, as yet, seen a copy of the report but the purpose of the submission to Cabinet will be to approve the commencement of a very comprehensive consultation process which will produce the evidence on which Cabinet can review the future care provision at Park View.

I have no doubt that various groups will endeavour to make this a political issue but I am determined that this process should be managed in a very mature manner for the benefit of the elderly residents at the home, their families and our staff. As local representatives of the Community, in the vicinity of the home, your Association should be involved in this consultation and I will ensure that this is the case.

I hope this clarifies the procedure and no doubt we will be in further discussion as we move forward into the formal consultation process, if approved by Cabinet in December.

Regards,

Ken Lupton

Hi Ken

Its the next meeting of residents about parkview tonight. When we last spoke you said that you had found out a bed block had been put on from May (i think it was) and that you would be making this public that day.

Can you confirm that this is correct and that it is something i can say at the meeting tonight?

Thanks

James
